Jacek Yerka was born in Toruń, Poland, in 1952 - where he later studied fine art and graphic design. According to Yerka, he was pressured by his university instructors to eschew detail and realism in favor of the fashion of the times - but did not relent, adhering to the meticulous classic Flemish technique that still typifies his work. In time they came to see him as a brilliant - though troubled - talent. Yerka graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, specializing in printmaking. He began working full time as an artist in 1980.

All these photographs show the construction of the Empire State Building. It is a 102-story skyscraper in New York City that is located at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and West 34th Street. Being 1472 feet (448 metres) tall, this was the tallest building in the world for over 40 years since its completion in 1931. Night vision goggles of the helicopter allow a pilot to fight even in the night time. It is equipped with an impressive armoury reserve. An inbuilt movable gun can totally destroy an armored personal carrier in 10 shots. The rockets complex “Igla” is intended for destruction of helicopters and drones. However, the main power of “the Night Hunter” is in its anti-tank missile “Ataka” against which all tanks are powerless.

The construction of the helicopter ensures the safety of the crew. The armoured cab withstands even direct hits of 12.7 mm bullets. A seat of the pilot is higher than the seat of the shooter so the vehicle has been made flatter and less vulnerable.

Mi-28N helicopters are already coming into operation of the Russian army. The Caucasus and The Russian Far East will see them first.

“The Flying Tank” applies a complex of on-board radio-electronic and instrumentation equipment that allows to use weapons and cope with flight and navigation tasks day and night in any meteorogical conditions at the lowest possible height using automatic terrain and flying around obstacle.

Scientists discover 52 new species, 8 sea mounts in deepwater.

The joint expedition of Indonesia and the United States has found 52 new species and eight sea mounts in deep waters in eastern Indonesia. The species were found at the depth between 300 to 2,000 meters beneath the ocean’s surface. They include fish, shrimp, coral and shells. Researchers also identified six sea mounts near North Siau Island and two sea mounts near Bunaken.

Before being buries by the volcanic eruption around 1500 BC, the Minoan civilization always inhabited in this Bronze Age city. Some well-preserved staircases, excellent wall-paintings and ceramics have been found on the Greek island of Santorini. The severe eruption may lead large part of the island to sink under the sea. That may inspire the legend of Atlantis.
